ESC volunteering opportunity: ”Youth for Refugees”, Greece (long term)

The International Centre for Sustainable Development (ICSD) is a non-profit based in Ioannina, Greece. The primary focus of the  Youth for Refugees  project is to actively contribute to the integration of refugees.

Through long-term volunteering, the participants will engage in initiatives designed to support an empower the refugee community. As an organization committed to fostering positive change, collaboration is key to making a meaningful impact.

Volunteer profile:

  • Between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Basic proficiency in English is required.
  • Participants must be legally residing in one of the participating European and EU-Partner Countries.
  • The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment is essential.
  • Flexible and creative, like very creative!
  • Open-minded with a positive attitude.
  • Motivated to promote solidarity.
  • Communicative and sociable.

Tasks of the volunteer: No specific prior knowledge, skills, or experience is necessary. Each volunteer supports the daily operation of his/her workplace by delivering various non-formal education activities to the minors. Examples: intercultural and language activities.

As a volunteer, you will benefit of:

  • A Youthpass certificate attesting to the skills you have learned in the project
  • Pocket money, food allowance, local transport, and reimbursement of travel expenses up to the established limit

  • Training and mentoring
  • Complementary medical insurance for the entire duration of the internship (HENNER)
  • Develop skills for social inclusion, social welfare support of refugees, advocating for the rights and needs of minors, cultural sensibility, and communication skills
  • Learn to be a member of a team and plan together
  • Learn how to organize and actively participate in social dialogue workshops and awareness events
