Volunteering Stories: La Buona Terra – by Laura & Daria

This March, our volunteers Laura and Daria joined a project by Associazione Kora in Passignano sul Trasimeno, Italy.

They spent the month building hillside terraces, learning about sustainable farming, and living in close connection with nature and an international community. We’re proud to support these type of experiences. Thank you, Laura and Daria, for sharing your amazing work!

My name is Laura, and in March 2025 I took part in a volunteering project organized in Passignano sul Trasimeno, Italy, by Associazione Kora.

The project revolved around rural life and farming. The main task throughout the month was constructing terraces on a hillside to prepare the land for a future vegetable garden. The work required consistent physical effort and close collaboration among volunteers. Although demanding, it taught me basic techniques for soil preparation and gave me a better understanding of the value of living in a way that respects and works with nature and its resources.

Beyond the daily activities, the project offered many opportunities to interact with participants from different countries — people with whom I formed deep connections and meaningful friendships.

The place itself is truly special. Kora feels fully aligned with the surrounding nature. You find yourself going for walks through the forest or the lavender garden, reading on a blanket under the trees, or picking flowers to make your own little bouquet.

Overall, I recommend this type of experience for anyone who wants to better understand rural work, get involved in hands-on ecological projects, and experience life in a peaceful, nature-based community setting.

I’m Daria, and in March 2025, I joined a volunteering project hosted by Associazione Kora at their farm, La Buona Terra, which is located in Passignano sul Trasimeno, Italy.

The project centered around sustainable agriculture and community living. Our main activity involved rebuilding hillside terraces — a step toward transforming the land into a thriving vegetable garden. The work was physically demanding but deeply rewarding. It taught me practical land management skills and offered a deeper connection to natural rhythms and ecological practices.

What truly enriched the experience was the cultural exchange. Living and working alongside volunteers from various countries allowed us to share stories, ideas, and moments that turned into lasting friendships.

Kora itself is nestled in a breathtaking landscape. The whole space blends beautifully with its surroundings — it’s not unusual to spend afternoons walking through wildflower paths, resting beneath the trees, or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.

For anyone looking to reconnect with nature, learn about rural sustainability, and be part of a mindful, collaborative community, I can’t recommend this kind of experience enough!
