Volunteering Stories: One month with me in Romanıa – by Ibrahim

(ENG) Hello, I am İbrahim Ataş. I came here from Turkey, Kocaeli. I have been living in Baia Mare for about 1 month.

If I talk about what I’m doing here, I’m at the team for youth office every weekday. I deal with things such as video editing in the office, posting to social media accounts, posting stories, presentations about Turkey.

The name of my project is YEAR 2. The project is divided into 2 main topics. The first is where I am. So the digital part. Here we make videos, stories or posters and share them on social media – about volunteering, working with young people, etc.

The second part is going to schools and giving presentations and activities or going to local people and helping them with their daily work.

So what do you think Baia Mare/Romania is like?

I went abroad for the first time. My first abroad experience is Romania. The first day I arrived, I landed at Cluj airport in the morning. I traveled in Cluj for about 4 hours with my friend.

We went to historical places, famous places. We went to the Cluj stadium. I knew this city. Because before, Galatasaray, one of my country’s football teams, played a match with the Cluj football team for a champions league match. After visiting these places, we took the train in the afternoon and came to Baia mare. A friend met us here and we arrived home.

If you live in Baia Mare, you are close to places where you can have a lot of fun and you are close to very quiet places also. In your free days, you can do activities with people you know here. You can meet volunteers of other organizations, learn different things – new words in different languages, culture, different music. We have even have fun together. For example, you can sit in a cafe and chat together. Or you can play different games outside – card games, ball games, starting tenis.

Also, sometimes you can have different moments. Here you can also meet people who have lived in your own country. As I encountered. The other day, I met a woman on the street who lived in Turkey for 12 years. She is a construction engineer. She mentioned that she and her husband did very good work in Turkey. She had the opportunity to visit places in Turkey that I had not yet had the opportunity to visit, and he recommended me to go there – like Antalya, Izmir, Trabzon. The woman loved Turkey so much that she changed her name to a Turkish one. And she still uses the Turkish name. She told me and other volunteer about the charity events she participated in and the social responsibility projects she went to. When we finally left, we told each other that we were very pleased to meet her. And we said goodbye.

I wanted to tell you about my 1 month experience. Thanks for your time.

(TK) Merhaba, Ben İbrahim Ataş. Buraya Türkiye’den geldim. Yaklaşık 1 aydır baia mare de yaşıyorum. 

Burada ne yaptığımdan bahsedecek olursam, Hafta içi hergün team for youth ofisindeyim. Ofiste video düzenleme, sosyal medya hesaplarına post atma, hikaye atma gibi işlerle uğraşıyorum.

Projemin adı YEAR 2. Proje 2 ana başlığa ayrılıyor. Birincisi benim olduğum kısım. Yani dijital kısım. Burada videolar, hikayeler veya posterler hazırlayıp sosyal medyada paylaşıyoruz.

İkinci kısmı ise okullara gidip sunumlar ve aktiviteler yapma veya yerel insanların yanına gidip onlara gündelik işlerinde yardımcı olma.

Peki bence Baia Mare/Romanya nasıl bir yer ? 

Ben ilk defa yurtdışına çıktım. Benim İlk yurtdışı deneyimim Romanya oldu. İlk geldiğim gün sabah Cluj havaalanına indim. Arkadaşımla beraber yaklaşık 4 saat boyunca Clujda gezdik. Tarihi yerlerine, ünlü yerlerine gittik. Cluj stadyumuna gittik. Bu stadı biliyordum. Çünkü daha önceden ülkemin takımlarından Galatasaray bir şampiyonlar ligi maçı için cluj futbol takımıyla maç yapmıştı. Buraları gezdikten sonra öğleden sonra trene bindik ve Baia mare ye geldik. Burada bizi bir arkadaşımız karşıladı ve eve varmış olduk.  

Eğer Baia mare de yaşıyorsanız hem çok eğlenebilecek yerlere yakınsınız demektir hem de çok sakin yerlere yakınsınız demektir. Boş günlerinizde burada tanıdığınız insanlarla beraber aktiviteler yapabilirsiniz. Diğer organizasyonların gönüllüleriyle tanışıp farklı şeyler öğrenebilir ve hatta birlikte eğlenebilirsiniz. Örneğin birlikte bir cafede oturup sohbet edebilirsiniz. Veya dışarda farklı oyunlar oynayabilirsiniz. 

Ayrıca bazen farklı anlarınız da olabilir. burada kendi ülkenizde yaşamış insanlarla da karşılaşabilirsiniz. Benim karşılaştığım gibi. Geçen gün Türkiyede 20 yıl önce 12 yıl yaşamış bir kadınla karşılaştım sokakta. Kendisi bir inşaat mühendisi. Eşiyle birlikte türkiyede çok güzel işler yaptığından bahsetti. Ve aslen de Romanyalı. Türkiyede benim daha gezme fırsatı bulamadığım yerleri gezme fırsatı bulmuş ve oralara gitmemi bana tavsiye etmişti. Türkiyeyi o kadar sevmiş ki adını Türkçe bir isimle değiştirmiş. Ve hala Türkçe ismini kullanıyor. Bize orada katıldığı yardım etkinliklerinden, katıldığı sosyal sorumluluk projelerinden bahsetti.En son yanımızdan ayrılırken tanıştığımıza çok memnun olduğumuzu birbirimize ilettik. Ve ayrıldık.
