EVS stories: An unforgettable experience – by Lea V.

Doing an EVS was the best decision I took until now. It had an impact on my life: I had to adapt myself to make this project in the best way.

When they proposed me an EVS in Romania to work with children, I must tell you that I had a little moment of reflection before accepting. I had this moment of reflection not because of missions but because of the destination. In France, there are so many clichés about Romania, but I came because you must stop thinking like that. Romania is such a beautiful country. And you must come here to understand what is real Romania.

Finally, I’m very satisfied of my project in Romania, in Baia Mare. To be a volunteer is the best way, for me, to discover who I am and develop new skills. I learned so many things with the children, in the hospital, at the orphanage, or in schools, or in the dance therapy… Even if we don’t speak the same language. I liked all the activities I made, some activities more than others. Finally, I only have positive memories.

I don’t want to leave because I still have a lot of things to learn and to discover. Two months it’s very short. I have no regret of my choice with my EVS.

I want to thank the people of the association Team for Youth, my mentor Cristina, the volunteers, my flatmates and the children from the activities for this wonderful EVS.
