Hi again, that’s my second blog for this experience. But if you don’t know me, I’m Samuele from Italy, I’m 22 years old and I’m near the end of one of the most important experiences of my life.
The end of an 8 month trip that changed my point of view of the people and the world, that gives me the possibility of understanding what I have around me and what is my purpose in this reality. I’m a European volunteer in Baia Mare, in the north of Romania, a city a little bit boring but full of wonderful people (volunteers and locals) and green places near mountains and lakes, perfect in summer. My job is easy in complex situations, I worked with organizations for children, gypsies and disabled people making activities and helping the incredible and human people that work every day in these contexts. I also moved to make presentations about topics I decided in most of the high schools in the city, getting along with the students also outside school.
But to describe the job I don’t think it’s useful to explain what volunteering is, you will find your description of that because it’s not one and everyone can find a different way to explain it. Mine… was the reason why I decide to continue doing after this and maybe get the volunteering became the reason of my life: in this months I found a job that it’s not the same as what I did in Italy, I feel like I’m part of something more, something that can become bigger; I found people that are different than everyone else I ever meet, not because are from different countries but for the way they act and live.
Volunteering it’s not easy, it’s leaving (for a short or long time) the life you were living before, it’s changing your ideas of the world, you cannot be ready and that’s the most wonderful thing at all…
Live your second life and show to yourself that you can be the change you want to see in this world, appreciate every second cause they can make you learn a lot, fall in love with the place, the food and not only them 😉 Good luck dear reader, la revedere!
