Volunteering Stories: As intense – by Alexandra

I’ve always kind of known that I wanted to live as intense and as genuine as I am living now.

Volunteering for me was the opening for this kind of life. It gives me the opportunity of experiencing freedom, meeting so many different people and their stories, perspectives, emotions, going places I never thought I would have the chance of going at this age. It feels like fever dream most days, I got to visit my favorite country, to try different cultures and tastes.

I get to do everyday something for a cause that I believe in and that gives me so much joy and purpose.

The project that I am currently in is in Italy, and we are 15 people that help in rebuilding and making an old and wonderful farm in a small full of nature village be the new spot for youth exchange people and may other type of projects.

We are the first group that is helping in remodeling the farm and it is so extraordinary to see it take life in front of our eyes. We are doing recycling, we are cleaning the green spaces, growing a vegetable garden of our own. We have every week a new place to explore with the coordinators of the project, we go on bike tours, to different lakes, pools living as peacefully and happily inside of a group that connects more and more everyday. The owners that are also the coordinators are so kind and giving to us, we feel like home, truly.
