My name is Oana Haliciu and I’ve been living all alone for almost two months now, in the apartment I share with my flatmates, but who had long ago deserted the terrain of Graz, even before the quarantine has started. This is not my quarantine story, but an expression of my strong sense of elation given the almost infinite opportunities going together with so much free time, my thoughts on re-finding joy in doing the day’s most basic and normal activities and, last but not least, I will share with you parts of my self-reflection during the prolonged time of isolation.

My name is Janek, I’m from Germany and today I will tell you a little something about my past few weeks in Romania. I’ve arrived here in the beginning of March for a volunteering project called DO IT!. We, that includes three other volunteers from France and Austria, were supposed to teach teenagers in high school, unfortunately the current epidemic came right on point to keep us from actually starting to teach.

Asociația Hors Pistes și Francophonia sunt în căutare de voluntari români pentru un proiect în orașul Nisa, pe 10 luni, prin Corpul European de Solidaritate. Proiectele sunt create în sprijinul profesorilor de limba franceză pentru a aduce o dimensiune multiculturală a lecțiilor, cu ajutorul voluntarilor.

An ESC project was a good mix between those points. When I applied to this project, I had no idea what to expect ; I didn’t know Romania at all, and it was a bit blurry concerning the activities that I was going to do.
