Volunteering stories: From Agriturismo L’arca – by Eduard

Hello, I am Eduard (18) from Romania. I really like to travel, to discover this beautiful world and to learn new things from beautiful people, new habits from many nations.

I was selected that project because I was want to be closer to the nature, and to know more from the other nations. Now I live in a small city between the beach and the hills, in Belvedere Marittimo, in south of Italy and I am volunteering at Agriturismo L’Arca as an European Solidarity Corps volunteer.

I have selected this project because I want to be more in the nature, near the animals, the sea and the hills. (And because I want to discover that beautiful world). I was really scared because what if they don’t accept me, but yes- they did, I was really happy because know I can live on a farm for six months.

I was really excited when I was arrived. I start to work on the second day. I came in June and it was really hot.

On the first working day we started to pick zucchini and zucchini flowers. Almost every day we harvest. The main tasks are planting, harvesting, preparing soil for planting, bamboo stand building for tomatoes.

There are daily tasks for the volunteers, by a table somebody needs to do the dishes at lunch and dinner, and somebody needs to take the eggs from the chickens. In season you can choose what you want to do, you can work on the fields, in the kitchen, and you can clean the rooms.

There will be many good activities with a big group, like rafting, pizza making workshop, basket making workshop and more.

We have two vacation days in a month! Its really good to live together with many other young volunteers, and make good friendships around the world.

Guidebook about Belvedere Marittimo & Diamante

Belvedere Marittimo:

• There is a really good gelateria in the old town where we go almost every week, its called Juve Bar, the ice cream and the aperol spritz are really good.
• At Mali Beach Club the cocktails are really good.
• The best pizza places: Ristorante Pizzeria Milleluci, Magic pizza (here the pizza is really big).

Diamante:

• Uno Tira L’Altro (when the boss is working I don’t recommend to visit that place).
• Il Giante Sushi Bar (They offer all you can eat service, at lunch its 19€)
