What do you think Romania and France have in common? Chloe, our volunteer from France, after volunteering for 8 months in Romania, organizing summer camps, seminars, intercultural presentations, activities in schools and kindergartens from rural areas, in high-schools from Baia Mare and in a center for children with Down Syndrome, got to this findings.

First week was hard to find my way, but finally all the volunteers helped me. I quickly adapted to the culture of Romania. The first month was the most important because I had to get used to plan and to prepare different activities.

At the beginning of July, we were for one week in a training called CONNECTOR, hosted in Bucharest. Each of us had to choose one different workshop, so I chose: HUMAN LIBRARY! We had three days for learning and understanding the method, two days to prepare the event and one day for presenting our work.

Everybody has their own reasons for going abroad and experiencing the EVS volunteer program. I was really afraid of speaking English and my friends said I should do EVS and then I got this idea and my thinking was that it’s now or never.

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Umut and I am from Turkey. In this testimony, I will not explain what EVS is. Moreover, I will not explain the activities as a volunteer. You know already. I would like to talk about only three things that are borders, goodness and “the puzzle”.
